When you're newer to the industry, there's a lot of uncertainty and questions. Getting an agent always seems to be the "go to" for solving an actor's lack of knowledge...as in "they'll know what to do."
But getting an agent is one of the more difficult tasks to accomplish as an actor, especially when you don't have a professional marketing package.
There's a lot to learn as an actor,
but the single, clearest thing to understand is that a great headshot solves a lot of problems. This is where you need to make a time and money investment. Your headshot will be the do or die in getting auditions. Auditions lead to bookings. Bad headshot = no bookings.
It's pretty simple. But of course, that costs money. This is a business. You're going to have to pay the cost of joining this industry, especially if you want to compete with the hard core, serious professional actors.
Professional actors are not just winging it!
They're going to acting class, updating their headshots, networking in the industry, getting out of their comfort zones. The industry will never come to you...you've got to arrive and be noticed!
